kittens rejoice! one of the warm days sandwiched in between winter days a few weekends ago. it's a good thing i was busy tending to plants and compost to sit considering i didnt have a chair! |
i bought this pre-planted pot with 4 layers of different flower bulbs. each layer has gone through a false start starting way back in october when i first put it outside (see photos). i finally put some water in it because all the new growth was threatening to shovel all the soil out onto the deck. can't wait till it starts to actually bloom! I suppose this fall i'll have to find a few new pots and transfer some bulbs since they are so fruitful and multiply. I once tried to dig up the old bulbs lining the driveway section in front of the garage at my grandparents only discover that each plant actually had about a dozen or more bulbs each to be removed. That was last May actually a few weeks after we got to virginia. i surprised my grandparents with a visit for a few days. I also spent days of that Memorial Day weekend cutting back a runaway bush larger than a car to a more manageable size... as in actual bush size. It's also the last time I saw my grandmother. I'm so glad i recorded one of our many conversations while i was laying on the couch on the screened in back porch. it was so nice to hear her voice again and share it with my papa after she passed.
